Dom Hélder Pessoa Câmara was Roman Catholic Archbishop of Olinda and Recife, Brazil, serving from 1964 to 1985 during the period of repression under the military dictatorship. He is considered as a champion of the poor who fought the forces of conservatism.
Life time: February 7, 1909 – August 27, 1999
